The Akashic Records is a beautiful healing modality that allows us to receive soul wisdom from our Higher Selves anytime, anywhere. Popularized by Edgar Cayce, Akashic Records are often described as a cosmic library of energy of all things past, present, and future. We all have the ability to access the Akashic Records and our own personal “Book of Light”. In this workshop, we’ll dive deep into what the Akashic Records are and some simple methods for how to enter and utilize them. We’ll also practice accessing the Records together via a relaxing and transformational Akashic meditation. Bring your most pressing questions, as we’ll be opening the Records for all attendees.

Communication through movement in the style of Pilobolus. Learn fluid and dynamic partner moves where weight is shared equally back and forth between partners. Exploring all types of partnering including: Weight sharing, cantilevers, posting, lifts, leading/following, base/flyer, partner acro, reciprocal and dynamic movements. We will facilitate discovery with guided improvisation techniques around a structured vocabulary. Come in comfortable fitted clothing and ready to move. No partner necessary; all levels welcome!

Bio:

Anthony is fascinated, overjoyed, and nourished by the communication of bodies in motion. Born and raised in Alaska instilled in him a love of nature and a grounded spirit. He has danced, climbed, and created all his life- and began blending his theatre training with circus arts in 2006. He has since studied and graduated from the New England Centre for Circus Arts (NECCA) ProTrack Program(2011Chinese Pole & Hoop Diving, 2014Hand to Hand), where he was then employed as an acrobatics instructor. In 2011, he began a three year contract working with Pilobolus Dance Theatre exploring the fusion of dance, acrobatics, and partner movement. Reconnecting with the circus community in 2014 brought Anthony to Montreal where he trained hand-to-hand and was a part of creating the show Tinder and Ash (TinderAndAsh.com) with 4 other graduates of the NECCA Protrack program. In 2017 he joined the team at (TSNY-DC as a part of the fly staff and a coach in the acrobatic/aerial program. Mostly based in the North East between NECCA and TSNY-DC, Anthony has trained and worked as a performer, instructor, and rigger across the U.S. and internationally, from Anchorage to Miami, Montreal to Macedonia, and is excited to continue his path of passion for movement.

Come prepared for a fun and thoughtful afternoon of learning and writing using your favorite pen and paper as we each create our own personal tarot reference. I’ve started keeping my reference in a simple 3-ring binder with notebook paper. It’s cheap and works great!

We will be focusing on the Rider Waite-Smith (RWS) tarot system and if you don’t have a tarot deck, no problem because I’ll bring extras. That said, the techniques we’ll be using work great with all decks so please feel free to bring any deck you have or prefer, along with your deck’s specific book to use as an additional reference. Also, bring any of your favorite reference books or materials. Everyone will receive handouts with the information necessary to complete the project at home. 

Over the next couple of meetups, we will continue the theme of working with the major arcana and build on this work. So, if you're a beginner, please don't hesitate to jump in now!

Chanting and writing the Sanskrit alphabet is a powerful tool and contemplative practice. In this workshop we will explore and practice chanting the alphabet using 5 mouth positions with a focus on producing precise sounds. You will also learn Devangari - the written script, and how to use it as a form of Likhita Japa - written repetition of a mantra as a meditation. Simple stretching breaks will be included. Please bring a notebook and a felt tipped pen.

Yamuna Devi, CYT, TY YTT has been teaching the Yogic Arts and Sciences for 30 years, including Hatha, Raja, Karma, Bhakti and Nada Yoga, as well as the vibrational aspects of Sanskrit. A Reiki Master, Yamuna corrected her own scoliosis and rotated pelvis, and intuitively understands the needs and how to best work with each individual student, helping to identify and overcome perceived limitations and obstacles.  She is truly in her element when she is sharing knowledge with those who are hungry. She has taught around the US, India and Crete and was an original cofounder of the Three Rivers Yoga Institute, where she also trained teachers for 12 years.  Yamuna is also a potter, Animal Communicator, Kirtan Singer and Dog Mom to three rescues.

Self Spinal Alignment Workshop with Dr. Win Smith

Dr. Win Smith, N.D., D.O.M., will lead this workshop on spinal care. Back, neck, hip, sacro- iliac joint, and other joint pain are very common in western society where we spend far too much time sitting at our computers or couch, and too little time exercising. Inactivity combined with aging and nutrient deficiencies or wrong diet often produce periods of acute and chronic pain as well as degenerative joint and disc diseases. Pain is the principal symptom that motivates us to seek professional medical care. But what if we could effectively treat or even prevent much of the back and neck pain that causes so much distress? There are naysayers who say it can't be done; that we must depend on someone other than ourselves to treat these problems. Dr. Smith disagrees. 

This workshop will cover common injuries and pain syndromes of the spine and joints and their causes, as well as the potential for their prevention and reversal. These include inter-vertebral disc injuries, degenerative disc disease, degrees of disc herniation, disc ruptures, disc desiccation commonly seen in aging and how to minimize it, as well as common conditions such as osteo-arthritis, stenosis, compression injuries, facet syndromes, dis-articular relationships of spinal joints, cartilaginous end plate degeneration, nerve root compression, and more. Dr. Smith will also demonstrate and teach the participants various methods for correcting articular relationships of common joint surfaces which give anyone the potential for self care. These methods may reduce or eliminate dependence on various professions while allowing one to enjoy greater flexibility and freedom from back pain. You don't need to be on a treatment treadmill! Pharmaceutical medications may mask a problem by reducing pain or relaxing muscles, and they often don't correct the true cause of the pain condition. Instead, they may damage delicate cells, ultimately leading to accelerated joint degradation. You don't need to let this happen!

Dr. Win Smith has been teaching natural and self healing methods as well as Traditional Oriental Medicine for 40 years. He is a full professor of TCM at the Southwest Acupuncture College, where he started teaching in 1981. He studied Oriental Medicine with Dr. Hsi Yu Tao, and has been in clinical practice since 1978 and licensed in New Mexico since 1982. He published the book Self Spinal Alignment and Other Life Extension Techniquesand its companion video in 1992. These techniques include methods of self adjustment of spinal joints in all segments of the spine, as well as rib heads and the sacro-iliac joint. Dr. Smith developed these techniques after suffering years of chronic pain as a consequence of his own back injury at the age of 16. Since developing these techniques, Dr. Smith has never required professional services to correct or treat misalignment or back pain, despite having been very active over the subsequent 51 years. Dr. Smith remains lithe and flexible, and is living proof that one can maintain spinal health with proper knowledge and self care techniques.

This workshop/performance is for anyone who is interested in the possibility of DIY (Do It Yourself) Touring. Although we hope that many high school aged folks will attend, the information and activities are for people of all ages.
During the workshop we will explore the differences between Fame and Family, the ephemeral promise of the ultimate American Dream: for everyone to know who you are and love you/your art and what you can actually experience as a traveling artist: a concrete connection with people in a real space and in real time that often nurtures the soul in unexpected ways. In other words, DIY Touring can help artists decrease their FOMO and increase their sense of purpose and connection to the world.
We will also talk about the actual nuts and bolts of booking and playing a show out of town. Where do you start? What do you need? How should you behave at the show? By the end of the workshop we hope that participants will have a sense of what DIY Touring can be both emotionally and career-wise and also know how to start booking and playing their first out of town gigs. - This is a FREE EVENT - Donations appreciated to support our Artists.

Sasha G. Alcott grew up in Bangor Maine, studied Chemistry at Cornell University, and fell in love with rock ‘n roll during the riot grrrl movement of the early/mid 90’s. Sasha taught high school chemistry and played in bands from 1995-2016. In the summer of 2016 she and her husband Chris Viner, bought a van, left their jobs and have been DIY Touring the US and Canada under the name When Particles Collide ever since. Join us to celebrate You and this gorgeous blooming season by practicing a creative 1 hr Vinyasa Gaia Flow and by creating your own mixed media 36"x16.5" garden/prayer flag, so every time the wind blows, your prayers and intentions move with Mother Gaia. 

All materials included, yet if you have a piece of fabric, a cool t-shirt that you would like to repurpose,  or something special, please feel free to bring it and make it part of this experience.

West African Drum Lessons with Chris Helvey

Saturday April 28th 3-5pm, $25 sliding scale

We will start at the beginning and learn two traditional rhythms. These drum classes are somewhat self-leveling in terms of student experience level. Beginners will get to learn the basics and more experienced players will learn the nuances of the rhythm. A few djembes will be available for rent.  First come first server. What we will learn:

Chris has been a drummer since the age of eight. Around twenty years ago, he was intrigued by the Djembe as an instrument and upon discovering the music it supported, came an "Aha!" about rhythm. What followed became a deep learning experience of West African rhythm, along with following the influences it has had on western music. He has traveled to Guinea, West Africa to learn from the source, and has studied with many masters both African and American. His teachers have been Mamady Keita (Conakry,) Famadou Konate' (Conakry,) Fadouba Oulare (Faranah,) Ryan Edwards (Boston,) Michael Taylor (Chicago,) Michael Markus (New York,) and Bruce Langhorn (Los Angeles,) among others.

Chris also plays guitar, congas, and anything that makes a sound. African music runs in his blood even while playing slack-key guitar. He often says that the influence of African music in his his own life and music style is like the egg in a cake. You can't separate them anymore.

We will share a brief history of henna simple tips & techniques to apply henna on your hands and forearms along with pattern ideas. Henna Cones for everyone. Lots of fun & practice time. Mini Session with our artist. This workshop is led by E-RYT and henna artist Adi Luna.

Drop Sound Enlightenment ~ Relax Your Monkey Mind ~ Sonic Water

Join us on this meditative visual sound journey. KYMAT is a Cymatics Installation and live Show. Cymatics is the process of visualizing sound Frequencies and vibrations. In the beginning there was sound. The reason cymatics exerts such a strong fascination is that we are not conditioned to "see sound". Cymatics is like a magic tool that unveils the true substance of things audible, but conventionally invisible. With it one can recreate the archetypes of different forms of nature. KYMAT, by Sven Meyer, presents new findings from the Hamburg laboratory and invites the audience as Mad Professor to participate in an experiment. The experimental setup is simple: a camera is filming a container filled with a little water bottle cap. With meticulous and rich sounds Dr. Meyer adds sound to this water which makes vibrate. The water acts as a three-dimensional sculpture that translates the sound into images. Sound is visible and tangible.  Organic patterns, cell divisions, mandalas, ice crystals, sacred geometry, the Flower of Life.  In a never-ending interplay of chaos and order, the symbols and basic shapes in our world architecture.
