Language is the fundamental building block of our entire known reality. Words can lift us up, or shut us down; open doors, or close them tight. In this interactive, three-hour workshop, Dani Katz, author of Word Up: Little Languaging Hacks for Big Change, will explain how language creates our reality; illuminate the vibrational frequencies encoded within our words; and unpack the various ways that words function to expand and contract, empower and enslave. Participants will learn the fundamental principles of a language of empowerment, while putting the teachings into practice by re-languaging their beliefs and their stories for the infinitely more supportive, expansive and inspired.

Please bring a notebook and a writing implement, and plenty of water to drink (hydration rocks).

Self Spinal Alignment Workshop with Dr. Win Smith

Dr. Win Smith, N.D., D.O.M., will lead this workshop on spinal care. Back, neck, hip, sacro- iliac joint, and other joint pain are very common in western society where we spend far too much time sitting at our computers or couch, and too little time exercising. Inactivity combined with aging and nutrient deficiencies or wrong diet often produce periods of acute and chronic pain as well as degenerative joint and disc diseases. Pain is the principal symptom that motivates us to seek professional medical care. But what if we could effectively treat or even prevent much of the back and neck pain that causes so much distress? There are naysayers who say it can't be done; that we must depend on someone other than ourselves to treat these problems. Dr. Smith disagrees. 

This workshop will cover common injuries and pain syndromes of the spine and joints and their causes, as well as the potential for their prevention and reversal. These include inter-vertebral disc injuries, degenerative disc disease, degrees of disc herniation, disc ruptures, disc desiccation commonly seen in aging and how to minimize it, as well as common conditions such as osteo-arthritis, stenosis, compression injuries, facet syndromes, dis-articular relationships of spinal joints, cartilaginous end plate degeneration, nerve root compression, and more. Dr. Smith will also demonstrate and teach the participants various methods for correcting articular relationships of common joint surfaces which give anyone the potential for self care. These methods may reduce or eliminate dependence on various professions while allowing one to enjoy greater flexibility and freedom from back pain. You don't need to be on a treatment treadmill! Pharmaceutical medications may mask a problem by reducing pain or relaxing muscles, and they often don't correct the true cause of the pain condition. Instead, they may damage delicate cells, ultimately leading to accelerated joint degradation. You don't need to let this happen!

Dr. Win Smith has been teaching natural and self healing methods as well as Traditional Oriental Medicine for 40 years. He is a full professor of TCM at the Southwest Acupuncture College, where he started teaching in 1981. He studied Oriental Medicine with Dr. Hsi Yu Tao, and has been in clinical practice since 1978 and licensed in New Mexico since 1982. He published the book Self Spinal Alignment and Other Life Extension Techniquesand its companion video in 1992. These techniques include methods of self adjustment of spinal joints in all segments of the spine, as well as rib heads and the sacro-iliac joint. Dr. Smith developed these techniques after suffering years of chronic pain as a consequence of his own back injury at the age of 16. Since developing these techniques, Dr. Smith has never required professional services to correct or treat misalignment or back pain, despite having been very active over the subsequent 51 years. Dr. Smith remains lithe and flexible, and is living proof that one can maintain spinal health with proper knowledge and self care techniques.

Prem Vidu - Vocals & Guitar
Blessed to be raised by musical parents, growing up on the sweet sounds of barbershop and dominant 7 chords, Prem Vidu was always interested in the intention behind the music. After gaining his BFA in Percussion Performance & Jazz Studies, life eventually led him to share his devotion through song and prayer. Guided to facilitate spirit-medicine journeys, he combines 10 years of leading ceremony with an 8 year practice of chanting. With a lifetime of musical experience, he now offers Kirtan, inviting all to share their voices together in devotion. He currently composes for, directs and leads The Band of Now, blending Sanskrit mantra and English lyrics, creating a sacred space for healing, peace and joy to cultivate.

Cassandra Bright - Vocals, Percussion & Harmonium
Cassandra began her yoga journey in 1998. Overwhelmed with life at the time...synchronistically, yoga arrived. Her first yoga experience (an Ashtanga Vinyasa class) kicked her butt, yet she wept with gratitude -- she’d found her way Home. Yoga instantly meant more than movement or exercise; it meant reconnecting with Self, with that part that was quietly awaiting her return. Drawing her deeper into yoga, and to yoga teaching training, she completed her first 200 hr YTT in Scottsdale in 1999, then journeyed to mother India in 2007 to experience Nithya Yoga, where she became Ordained as a Yogacharya and Ananda Spiritual Healer. Her study of Self and Yoga continue, recently completing an advanced training in Yoga & Ayurveda.The opening of her center, Gilbert Yoga in 2003, has allowed her and many others to share the gifts of yoga with thousands, and to initiate others into teaching as well.
Beginning with an asana based practice, she now finds her heart immersed in Bhakti Yoga, singing with her partner Prem Vidu in their band, The Band of Now. Together they hold space for heartfelt, soul-stirring yoga-medicine to flow.

Julia has been moving dance floors since 2012. Offering an invigorating mix of sounds and rhythms from all over the world, she offers an alchemical experience through embodiment of beat. Mixing music “for the whole community,” Julia offers a uniquely ageless sound, inviting all to take part and move. Since Spring of 2013, Julia has been producing and DJing events of all kinds; private celebrations, festivals, dance clubs, large concert venues, dance/embodiment workshops, and not for profit events. In 2014, Julia created and began DJing and hosting a weekly world music music show for KNCE True Taos Radio in Northern New Mexico. Inviting you on a cosmic journey to the higher planes of the musical multiverse, Planewalker (a.k.a. Brennan Murphey) calls on his ancestral Irish and Egyptian roots to infuse his compositions with the ancient tones and rhythms of the druids and the magi. Entering into the world of music as a young child, he was performing on stage with his father Michael Martin Murphey (of Wildfire fame) at the age of 5, performing on the piano at the age of 12 and on the guitar at the age of 13. Completing his first electronic music compostion in 1997 at the age of 17, he is now one of the most prolific psychedelic electronic music producers in the United States and a Celtic harp player of national renown. With over 100 original songs released between his own name and his collaborative projects Chaos Control and Mister Chill’R, Planewalker has also produced official remixes for some of the most respected artists in psychedelic bass music and psychedelic trance including Desert Dwellers, Merkaba, Funky Dragon and Smoke Sign. Moreover, Planewalker has been featured on event lineups with Rabbit in the Moon, Ott, The Polish Ambassador, Phutureprimitive, Desert Dwellers, Kalya Scintilla, Bluetech, Random Rab, Govinda, Bird of Prey and Kaminanda. Join us on this meditative visual sound journey. KYMAT is a Cymatics Installation and live Show. Cymatics is the process of visualizing sound Frequencies and vibrations. In the beginning there was sound. The reason cymatics exerts such a strong fascination is that we are not conditioned to "see sound". Cymatics is like a magic tool that unveils the true substance of things audible, but conventionally invisible. With it one can recreate the archetypes of different forms of nature. KYMAT, by Sven Meyer, presents new findings from the Hamburg laboratory and invites the audience as Mad Professor to participate in an experiment. The experimental setup is simple: a camera is filming a container filled with a little water bottle cap. With meticulous and rich sounds Dr. Meyer adds sound to this water which makes vibrate. The water acts as a three-dimensional sculpture that translates the sound into images. Sound is visible and tangible.  Organic patterns, cell divisions, mandalas, ice crystals, sacred geometry, the Flower of Life.  In a never-ending interplay of chaos and order, the symbols and basic shapes in our world architecture.
