Bio: Wildcat was born in the Oklahoma Seminole Nation and moved around a lot growing up, living in a number of different cultures in this country and traveling abroad. Music (especially singing and drumming), dance, and the psychedelic sacrament medicines are important parts of his spiritual relationship with reality, as are meditation, asana, and time in nature. His family includes 3 dog women and his romantic partner, all of whom spend as much time playing outdoors as possible. He studied mathematics and mechanical engineering in school then left it all behind to do regenerative ecology work, focusing on the restoration of biodiversity above and within the ground, with an emphasis on fungi. He’s been DJing for 20 years, exploring the world of musical styles in the process.

Music: Wildcat’s musical focus is on the beautiful, the psychedelic, the emotionally stirring, the deeply funky, the healthy sexy, and on soundscapes that paint vivid pictures within him. He loves organic indigenous musical traditions from around the world, African and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, modern combinations of these old traditions, and the new spaces where modern electronica production styles interface with them. His favorite dance tracks have the rooted, Earthy, indigenous elements grounding them, the core-centered strong sexuality, the chest-centered urban style cool funk sensibility, and the powerful psychedelic spiritual science informing his spirit as he moves with them. In his life in general and as a musician, Wildcat focuses on bringing good medicine.

On Earth Day, Thursday April 22nd we will dance for High Frequency Loft. Please join us online for a half hour somatic movement/improvisation class followed by one hour of freeform dance.

Bio:

DJ Uplifter, Previous Taos Resident & Taos High School Graduate is bringing his music to share with us from Hawaii. With his roots based in New Orleans and having spend many years in the Northern NM/Southern CO regions, dj Uplifter has taken a deep respect for music as an art form and translated it into his unique style of djing. With his extensive knowledge of rhythms and beats, he blends the traditional Jamaican sound system style with an American house-music mixing approach, while adding the infectiousness of the modern Bass sounds of today along with Latin and Hip-Hop sounds. This technique has provided his listeners/dancers with a unique style that is extremely infectious and body-moving. His Downtempo & Dub music knowledge is multifaceted, with attention to detail and layering of various obscure beats and sounds. His mixes induce out-of-body experiences and goal attaining energy.

His Edance performances set a magical tone that have been repeatedly requested in his current home, the Puna district of Big Island. As a resident dj of the Kalani Ecstatic dance community, dj Uplifter has honed his craft whilst keeping in the 5 Rhythms tradition.  Uplifting and body-moving sets are his specialty. 

With his 26+ years of experience, Uplifter has relocated to Big Island, Hawaii where he continues to expand his knowledge of music and provide dancers with an extensive array of beats to groove get on down!

Julia has been moving dance floors since 2012. Offering an invigorating mix of sounds and rhythms from all over the world, she offers an alchemical experience through embodiment of beat. Mixing music “for the whole community,” Julia offers a uniquely ageless sound, inviting all to take part and move. Since Spring of 2013, Julia has been producing and DJing events of all kinds; private celebrations, festivals, dance clubs, large concert venues, dance/embodiment workshops, and not for profit events. In 2014, Julia created and began DJing and hosting a weekly world music music show for KNCE True Taos Radio in Northern New Mexico. Brennan Murphey) calls on his ancestral Irish and Egyptian roots to infuse his compositions with the ancient tones and rhythms of the druids and the magi. Entering into the world of music as a young child, he was performing on stage with his father Michael Martin Murphey (of Wildfire fame) at the age of 5, performing on the piano at the age of 12 and on the guitar at the age of 13. Completing his first electronic music compostion in 1997 at the age of 17, he is now one of the most prolific psychedelic electronic music producers in the United States and a Celtic harp player of national renown. With over 100 original songs released between his own name and his collaborative projects Chaos Control and Mister Chill’R, Planewalker has also produced official remixes for some of the most respected artists in psychedelic bass music and psychedelic trance including Desert Dwellers, Merkaba, Funky Dragon and Smoke Sign. Moreover, Planewalker has been featured on event lineups with Rabbit in the Moon, Ott, The Polish Ambassador, Phutureprimitive, Desert Dwellers, Kalya Scintilla, Bluetech, Random Rab, Govinda, Bird of Prey and Kaminanda. His debut full-length psy-bass album "Planes of Consciousness" was released in December 2017 by Street Ritual records. He has big plans for 2018 with his label imprint and production company Waveform Wizardry, which hosts the Starseed electronic music events in Taos, NM. He has just recently begin his journey into the ecstatic dance format.

MYSTICKA (Boulder, CO)
MysticKa is the alter ego of Tara Czutno based in Denver. From an early age she was enamored with music, played violin and piano and grew up with an interest in many diverse genres (Classical, Showtunes, Disco, Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal, Funk and Jazz). In 2003 she went to her first Psytrance party and got infected. She has been an electronic music aficionado ever since She started djaying in 2012 playing Progressive Psytrance and Downtempo. Her sound is funky deep bass lines, emotional melodies, healing sounds, and chakra aligning arrangements. Her latest projects include producing underground electronic music events in and around Denver: Psychedelic Szechuan, 7th Dimension and Liminal Vibe. SATTVA ANANDA (Santa Fe, NM)
Sattva Ananda got his first musical instrument at the age of thirteen (a drum kit). From there he learned to play percussion instruments of various types, including the didgeridoo, congas, djembe, nyabinghi drums etc. In the early 90,s he played in funk and groove oriented bands. In 1996 he started the venture towards loop based music, eventually leading to his owning a small studio and the self production abyss of electronic based music. Today he focuses on what is broadly known as bass music. Sattva has been producing bass music for many years, with numerous releases on Party Time Society and Desert Trax. He is best known for his Moombahton sets that always bring a smile to those on the dancefloor. We're honored to have him up to Taos for a guest appearance.

JULIA DAYE (Taos, NM)
Julia has been moving dance floors since 2012. Offering an invigorating mix of sounds and rhythms from all over the world, she offers an alchemical experience through embodiment of beat. Mixing music “for the whole community,” Julia offers a uniquely ageless sound, inviting all to take part and move. Since Spring of 2013, Julia has been producing and DJing events of all kinds; private celebrations, festivals, dance clubs, large concert venues, dance/embodiment workshops, and not for profit events. In 2014, Julia created and began DJing and hosting a weekly world music music show for KNCE True Taos Radio in Northern New Mexico. The show, titled “What Are These These Things?” airs live every Tuesday 10 am – 1pm MST both locally and to an national online audience.
